Spring 6-Week Classes

The Cornerstone Arts Program is excited to introduce the Spring 2011 six week class series. These classes will begin March 14 and continue until April 28. These classes are a great way for members of the community to experience arts, dance, music, and fitness. On May 1st, participants may perform at the Cornerstone Celebration to show what they have learned.

Youth Classes Include: Early Ballet, Early Jazz, Hip Hop, Early Tap, Early Art, Youth Art, Art in Nature, Your Art is Garbage, Art Styles, Zumba Lil' Starz, Zumba Big Starz, Early Piano, Music & Movement, and Cornerstone Rock Band.

Adult Classes Include: Line Dancing, Swing, Ceramics, Open Ceramics Studio, Beginning Digital Photography, Drawing, Painting, Beginning Sewing, Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, Introduction to Jazz Vocals, and Introduction to Songwriting.

Workshop: Lego Building

DateL February 26, 2011

Time: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM for 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders.

Time: 3:15 PM - 5:15 PM for 4th and 5th graders.

In this workshop, the students will be able to take their creative building ability with LEGO® blocks to a new level. This workshop will introduce robotics with the LEGO® Education WeDo Robotics Construction Set and Software Combo. We will build creative, interactive LEGO® models with a working motor and sensor. The kids will then learn how to program their model with the easy-to-use, drag-and-drop software interface. The kids will have fun while learning too.

This workshop is for those in 1st - 5th grade

The cost of this class is $10.

Workshop: Don't Be A Victim, Prepare Yourself

Date: February 26, 2011

Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Learn how to recognize and avoid dangerous situations, how not to become a victim, and how to fight off an assailant if you have to. This two hour workshop will teach you how to be alert and aware so that your decisions in emergency moments will not be driven by panic.

This workshop is for 6th grade- adults.

The cost of this workshop is $10.


Workshop: Late Winter Photowalk

Date: February 26, 2011

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join other students on a walk around the area neighboring the building as you explore the aspects of the season. This workshop will encompass photo techniques as well as chances to discuss work. A camera is required.

This workshop is for 9th grade- adults.

The cost of this workshop is $15.

Spring Classes

Spring classes have begun! The snow and ice made for a troubling start but classes are in full swing. Make up dates will be announced in each class. Please remember that Cornerstone's inclement weather policy follows the actions of Muncie Community Schools- when they close the school for the day, Cornerstone cancels classes.

 Rentals at Cornerstone

Do you have an upcoming special event such as a business luncheon, wedding, surprise party, fundraising event, workshop or other special event? Have you considered renting a room for the event? Cornerstone Center for the Arts has several beautiful rooms to rent for small to large events.

All rooms can be shown by appointment and our rentals department will work with you to make sure your event needs are met.
