Class Spotlight
This spring, Cornerstone Center for the Arts will be featuring a variety of classes: some new, some old favorites, and some very unique classes.
We are proud to offer a new class this semester for middle schoolers: Cheerleading. This class meeting on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 is taught by Alissa Smith, a Ball State University senior with many years of cheerleading and coaching experience. This class will focus on all aspects of cheerleading and is a great way to prepare for cheerleading try-outs or just to have fun!
Cornerstone is excited to offer Scrapbooking again. On Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00, just bring your book and photos and let Cornerstone provide the rest. We have a variety of papers, plain and printed, wonderful stickers, a die cutting machine, and all the other scrapbooking tools and embellishments you will need to create a one-of-a-kind memory book. Linda Rose will provide new ideas and guidance for the hour. You will finally be able to finish some great pages, and if you opt to take the Open Scrapbooking hour from 7:00-8:00 on Tuesdays, you can finish even more pages!
Join the Shakespeare Troupe this spring! Meeting on Mondays from 6:00-7:00, this class is led by Robby Tompkins, the Cornerstone Director of Education who is also a director with Muncie Civic Theatre. This class explore a variety of Shakespeare's plays. Students will learn about character development, blocking, fight choreography, and more!
This semester, you will have a chance to make your own books in the class, Handmade Books meeting on Thursdays from 8:00-9:00. Led by Emily Leiserson, a Ball State University graduate student, this class will teach students a variety of bookmaking techniques. Students will leave class with sketchbooks, scrapbooks, journals, and artists' books.
This past semester, Youth Tap was a popular class and we are pleased to offer it again this semester on Thursdays from 5:00-6:00. Shanna Corner, who has over 30 years of dance training and many years teaching experience, will lead children in grades kindergarten to 6th in various tap steps. The students will perform in our end of semester Celebration on April 27th.

We also had a lot of interest in forming an Adult Tap class for the spring semester. This class will be led by Abby Drumm, who has been dancing since she was two years old, will lead the class. Students will meet on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 and will learn a variety of steps including scuffle, riffle, shuffle, spank, dig, irish, and shim sham.
We are pleased to be able to offer Swing dancing this semester. This class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00. Butch Starkey and Debbie Roberts will lead this class, having over twenty years teaching experience and many more years dancing experience between the two of them. Students will learn a variety of swing steps, building new steps on every week. This is a fun and easy dance that can be done to almost any type of music!

Supporting Cornerstone
Cornerstone Center for the Arts is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that needs community support to succeed in its mission. If you feel that Cornerstone has benefited you and this community, please consider donating funds, materials, or time to help maintain this organization.
One way to support Cornerstone Center for the Arts is to donate your used ink cartridges. We can use Dell, HP, and Lexmark cartridges. We turn these cartridges into Staples for $3.00 coupons which cuts down on what we have to spend on office supplies. If you have any you would like to donate, please bring them to the Education Office at the Cornerstone building.
Donations can be made to Cornerstone by check or credit card. Check out our website for more details, or call 765.281.9503 and speak with Lori to make a contribution over the phone.
Some items that we currently need include a video camera, arts related books and DVDs for our library, computers with Pentium 4 or higher processors, computer monitors and quality visual art supplies.
Thank you for considering making a donation to Cornerstone!
