Cornerstone Ranks Highest Among Grant Recipients

On Thursday, July 21st, artists, arts supporters, and representatives of area arts organizations gathered at Arts Place in Portland for the announcement of the Indiana Arts Commission's Regional Grant Awards.

Cornerstone received two grants: $25,245 for Arts Operating Support and $2,327 for Arts Project Support (Harvest Moon Film Festival Collaboration) for a total of $27,572. President and CEO Terry Whitt Bailey was told that this was the largest allocation of this kind given to an organization in the 12 county region.

Board President Jean Amman and Director of Education Robby Tompkins received the awards that were presented to Cornerstone by Senator Sue Errington. Also in attendance were Terry Bailey, Brett Ellison (Director of Rentals & Events), and Board Members Judy Barnes, Marilyn Cleary, and Micah Maxwell.

Arts Operating Support dollars will be used to provide support for the ongoing artistic and administrative functions of Cornerstone for a full year of services. Arts Project Support dollars will be used to support the inaugural Harvest Moon Film Festival, a partnership between Cornerstone, Ball State University, Joseph David Advertising, Muncie Downtown Development, Indiana Films, LLP, Muncie Civic Theatre, and Taylor University Communications Department.
